The opposition Peoples Party (PP) has become the latest party to pull out of the Tonse Alliance ahead of the 2025 polls.

Former President Dr. Joyce Banda who is also leader and founder of the party announced this on Sunday during a political rally held at Old Naisi in Zomba District.

Banda said that the end of the political marriage came soon after the Malawi Congress Party convention.

She then announced that the party will go solo in the forthcoming 2025 polls.

Recently also United Transformation Movement (UTM) announced its exit from the Alliance with the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

MCP is yet to comment on the matter.
