The Lilongwe Principal Resident Magistrate’s Court has convicted and sentenced Wilson Sichinga, 41, to 14 months jail term for using insulting language and intimidating Steven Dumuka, a workmate to the convict’s wife .

The court heard through prosecutor Sergeant Innocent Dzatopetsa of Kawale Police Station that on 27 July 2024 Sichinga made a phone call to Dumuka accusing him of having a secret love affair with his wife who happened to be his workmate.

During the call the convict insulted, intimidated and vowed to kill him for flirting with his wife.

Appearing in court he pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against him.

In his submission, Dzatopetsa asked the court to consider granting a stiffer sentece to deter other would – be offenders.

Principal Resident Magistrate Rodrick Michongwe concurred with the state’s submission.

Michongwe ordered him to serve 14 months for the count of intimidation and 6 months for using insulting language. All sentences to run concurrently.

Sichinga hails from Chiwiku Village Traditional Authority Mwankhunikira in Rumphi district.
