Death has been announced of former First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Maureen Mwanawasa.
Maureen Mwanawasa, a spouse to late Levy Mwanawasa died at Maina Soko Medical Centre yesterday, according to media reports.
Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema has since taken to social media to express his sadness on the death of Maureen Mwanawasa.
“It is with deep shock and sorrow that we have learnt of the passing of the former first lady, Mrs Maureen Kakubo Mwanawasa.
“We call on the country to unite as we join her family, and indeed the nation, in prayer,” wrote Hakainde Hichilema.
Meanwhile,funeral details are still sketchy at the moment.
