Information reaching this publication indicates that United Transformation Movement (UTM) Secretary General Patricia Kaliati yesterday shunned the party’s meeting summoned by State Vice President Michael Usi.
The meeting which involved officials of UTM’s Central committee was held at UTM President Michael Usi’s official residence in Lilongwe.
Though the outcomes of the meeting are yet to be revealed, this publication has established that Kaliati did not attend the meeting.
Kaliati also confirmed her absence from the meeting in an interview with one of the local daily papers (Nation Publications Limited).
“Inuyo mukufunsa ndinu a UTM? Mufunseni Njawala [Why are you interested in the meeting? Are you a member of UTM? Ask Njawala],” said Kaliati.
Kaliati and Usi have not been seeing each other eye to eye since the death of the party’s President Dr. Saulos Chilima in plane crash last month.
The two have been on the media tussling.
Meanwhile, UTM is scheduled to hold its elective conference in October this year.
