Senior officials at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre have successfully extinguished a fire that broke out on the premises. The blaze, which originated in an area designated for garbage disposal, did not impact the main guest accommodation areas, according to the officials.
However, sources at the scene reported that thick smoke was coming from the hotel’s kitchen, causing significant panic among guests, who were seen evacuating their rooms. The incident caused considerable chaos at the hotel.
Additionally, the fire has primarily affected a building that was under construction on the hotel grounds. The officials have since requested that both guests and staff, who had fled the scene, return, assuring them that there is no longer any danger.
