Lilongwe based electronics store ‘HiFi Electronics’ has committed technical equipment towards Mafunyeta Memorial show set for Sunday at National War Memorial Tower Road in Lilongwe.

The company made the announcement on Thursday at its premises in Lilongwe.

The memorial show, honouring the legacy of reggae dancehall artist Patrick Magalasi (Mafunyeta), aims to raise awareness about mental and reproductive health and technology among the youth and young adults.

Hifi says the sponsorship will enhance the event’s production quality, provide advanced sound, stage, backline, gate barrier, and lighting equipment.

Director of Events at HiFi Events, Blessed Adam, says they are honoured to support the show, stressing that this is a vital platform for artistic expression.

“Mafunyeta was part of our company, and we recognise his legacy. Our contribution aims to ensure the event resonates powerfully with attendees,” Adam says.

Chairperson for the Show, Yanja Chigamba expresses excitement over HiFi Electronics’ sponsorship.

“This is a significant boost for us, and we are very happy,” Chigamba says.

Now in its seventh year, the event, themed “Let’s Talk About,” will focus on raising awareness on mental health, with a lineup that includes performances from Malinga Mafia, Kellie Devine, Jay Jay C, and Lulu.

Mafunyeta, real name Patrick Magalasi, died on August 13 2013, due to asthma.

He is still remembered for tracks like ‘Ndimakondwa’,’’ Kangobwera’, and ‘Mkazi wati Chani’
