The Truck Drivers Union has suspended its nationwide strike following discussions with government officials and their employers, Transporters Association of Malawi (TAM).
Truck Drivers Union vice secretary, Francis Lalika Munthali has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Munthali, they have taken the action after their members agreed to allow government and TAM address their grievances in seven days.
The truck drivers, who grounded their machines from Wednesday, want swift passport services at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services and also their salaries hiked.
Sources indicate that government agreed to some of the conditions set by the drivers.
