A 4-year-old boy, identified as Tapelo Tapelo of Kabobo Extension in Mazabuka Zambia, has died after being hit by an overspeeding vehicle.

The incident occurred on 17th August 2024, around 10:00 hours, along the Great North Road, about 3 kilometres south of Mazabuka town, opposite the graveyard

The involved Ford Everest vehicle was driven by 60-year-old Albert Jacobus Van Wyk of Chongwe district. The victim sustained head injuries and died upon arrival at Mazabuka General Hospital.

Elsewhere, a male pedestrian was discovered lifeless on the road in a suspected hit-and-run incident, predicted to have occurred between midnight and 04:30 hours on Saturday, along the Great North Road, about 7 kilometres south of Chisekesi in Monze.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, noted that the victim, who sustained head and body injuries, was yet to be identified when the remains were deposited at Monze Mission Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
