Thirty-four people have been admitted to Mzuzu Central Hospital after drinking sweet beer that some believe may have been contaminated.
Dr. Arnold Kaira, a spokesperson at the hospital, confirmed that the hospital has received these patients but stated that they are still investigating the cause of their illness.
According to Kaira, the patients consumed beer that was brewed by Chief Thom Kamanga in Choma, north of Mzimba District, where they had gone to attend a funeral.
Some of the patients are experiencing symptoms such as weakness, abdominal pain, and dizziness, and they are receiving medical assistance.
