Police at Chitipi in Lilongwe have arrested two people on suspicion of stealing five goats last week in the district.
Deputy spokesperson for Lilongwe Police Constable Khumbo Sanyiwa has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspects as said Samuel James aged 34 and a 16-year-old boy (name withheld).
According to Sanyiwa, some people tipped police officers that the two were in certain meadow with goats that they seem to have stolen.
After conducting an investigation, police managed to arrest the two while one managed to escape.
They said their research has found that James likes to persuade goat herders to sell their goats to the owners of the goats without knowing he is selling them to the butchers.
The two will soon appear in court where they will face charges of theft.
