President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has said he is deeply saddened by the death of 26 people that burned in a minibus road accident today in Kasungu.

The minibus with 25 people on board from Jenda to Lilongwe collided with a fuel tanker after hitting a cyclist at Katondo area in Kasungu district.

The collision resulted into a devastating fire which claimed lives of 26 people.

In the statement President Chakwera and Madam Monica Chakwera have sent condolences to the bereaved families.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and friends. May we find strength comfort in God’s grace during this troubling time,” said Chakwera.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies are being kept at Kasungu District Hospital mortuary.
