The Lilongwe Police have arrested four men for allegedly cheating a 68-year-old woman by selling her 30 bags of quarry dust, pretending it was cement. The incident occurred on Thursday, and the woman paid K534,000 for the dust.

According to Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu, the scammers had placed the bags near another shop on Kamuzu Procession Road and falsely claimed that their cement was cheaper compared to that sold in the shop.

Chigalu stated that the woman transported the bags back to her home, but it was the constructors who discovered that the bags contained only dust.

The suspects are identified as Lyton Yohane, 42, Joseph Green, 42, Wilson Ogren, 48, and Kayinga Nololo, 50. They are facing charges related to fraud and possession of deceptive goods.
