President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has admitted of receiving an inquiry report on the case of the plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and eight others on June 10, 2024.

Chakwera confirmed this during an interview with DW reporter while in Germany where he went for official visit recently.

In an interview Chakwera was none committal as to when his administration will release the report to the public despite Germany experts submitting it to his administration.

This has angered Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard chimbanga who has taken the issue to social media.

Wrote Chimbanga: “I have seen a video where President Chakwera is speaking with a DW reporter about the Late Saulos Klaus Chilima’s Plane crash report while in Germany. It appears he received the report a while ago and decided not to release it to the public despite promising Malawians he would do so once it has been handed to him.

“Citizens would like to know what happened to the Vice President. What’s the hold up. What happened to SKC? Penapake Boma ili serious alibe. Should people demonstrate for the Government to finally release the report?”

Effort to talk to government spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu proved futile.
