United Transformation Movement (UTM) Secretary General Patricia Kaliati has requested all party members to refrain from attending government meetings, as the party is no longer part of the Tonse Alliance.

Kaliati made the remarks during UTM’s press briefing at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, where the party was updating journalists about their convention.

Kaliati, quoted in Chichewa, said, “Ngati mukupita ku misonkhanoyo mwa inu nokha, musamavale nsalu za UTM,” (If you choose to attend these meetings on your own, do not wear UTM attire).

At the briefing, the party also announced that it will hold its elective conference on November 17, 2024, ahead of the 2025 polls.

UTM Publicity Secretary Felix Njawala has since appealed to all aspiring candidates to engage in issue-based campaigns by refraining from hate speech.
