A mammoth crowd converged at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre on Wednesday to welcome the President of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
Chanting various songs of praise due to the cordial bilateral ties that exist between the two countries and rhythmically dancing to different tunes, Nyusi could not hold his smile at the multitude as he, together with the Malawi leader, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, walked majestically towards the presidential convoy.
Nyusi’s visit to the country is at the invitation of his counterpart, President Chakwera in recognition of the strong bilateral relationship that exists between the two countries.
Malawi and Mozambique share a rich history of cooperation, rooted in their geographical proximity and deep cultural connections.
While in the country, Nyusi will join his Malawian counterpart in fulfilling some official engagements including presiding over the graduation ceremony of University of Malawi in Zomba on Wednesday and opening of the 20th National Agriculture Fair on Thursday in Blantyre, respectively.
