President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) torchbearer has said he is ready to face former President Peter Mutharika in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
Chakwera said this during an interview with the Deutsche Welle (DW) International Media House in Germany where the President went for official visit recently.
In the interview Chakwera who seemed smiling said he is not worried to face Mutharika who is Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) torchbearer at the polls.
“Let him come. Let him compete. We have competed before and am not worried at all,” said Chakwera while answering question of whether he is worried about the return into front-line politics.
He added: “It [Malawi]is a democracy and its about telling Malawians what they need to do. And they are the best Judges.”
Mutharika and Chakwera will be facing each other at the polls for the fourth time on September 16, 2024.
