Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East Constituency Sameer Suleman has asked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to cancel his trip to China.

Suleman made the plea yesterday in the August House as he was contributing to a proposal made by Chairperson of Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources and Climate Change Wellani Chilenga to hike fuel prices.

The MP said Malawians are facing a number of challenges and the President should consider that by cancel the trip to save money for the poor.

He said hiking fuel prices is not a solution at the moment.

But standing on point of order, leader of government in the house Richard Chimwendo Banda quashed Sulemani’s appeal, saying the trip is very important to Malawi.

Chimwendo Banda went further to say that all African leaders will be in China.
