Consumer Association of Malawi (CAMA) Executive Director John Kapito has come out of his cocoon to comment on calls for him to resign over his recently proposal asking the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) to hike fuel prices in the country.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday DPP lawmaker Sameer Suleman accused Kapito of of betraying Malawians by recommending an upward fuel revision amid economic challenges.

Sulemani then went further to for Kapito’s resignation and join front-line politics.

But when asked to comment on the call Kapito said he will reserve his reaction on the matter.

Kapito asked MERA to consider adjusting fuel prices to prevent an impending fuel shortage that could impact consumers and the economy.
