A truck driver has died after being burnt in a road traffic accident occurred yesterday on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, around 16:00 hours the Great North Road in the Frisco area in Zambia.

Central Province Commissioner of Police Charity Munganga has confirmed the sad news and she has deceased driver as Amad Yasin Idris, aged between 45 and 49, from the Ndeke compound, Ndola who has burned beyond recognition.

Munganga said it involved a Scania tanker, registration number BCD5823, trailer ACX546T, laden with diesel, property of O.O. Mahad Transport of Ndola.

She said preliminary investigations indicate that the truck, travelling from Serenje towards Mkushi, went off the road and flipped due to excessive speed before bursting into flames.

Munganga said the driver was trapped inside the cabin and burned to ashes.

She said the identity of the driver was confirmed by a friend who was following him from behind.
