Police in Mchinji have arrested two men for allegedly tampering with pre-paid water meters belonging to Central Region Water Board (CRWB).
The two have been identified as Zakaliya Mwanza (23) and Siliya Bornface, (20).
Mchinji police public relations officer Limbani Mpinganjira has confirmed the development saying over 16 different complaints were lodged by victimised households.
“Immediately, police instituted investigations and raided suspected premises leading to the seizure of 16 pre-paid meters and arrest of the suspects,” he said.
The two will appear in court soon to answer the charge of possessing stolen property.
Both Mwanza and Bornface hail from Chikomeni Village, T/A Zulu in the district.
