United Transformation Movement (UTM) spokesperson Felix Njawala has stated that his party will have a leader on the ballot in next year’s elections.
Njawala made this announcement during a memorial event for their former leader and Malawi’s vice president, Dr. Saulos Chilima, who died in a plane crash two months ago. The event was held at Masintha Ground in Lilongwe.
According to Njawala, the party has leaders capable of continuing the vision of the late Dr. Saulos Chilima, who was their former leader.
Among those present at the event were the party’s senior secretary Patricia Kaliati, Dr. Matthews Mtumbuka, and Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.
Njawala’s remarks come as the party prepares to hold its elective conference soon to select a new leader to guide the party for the next five years.
