At least five people have been shot at the West Indian Day parade in New York City  in United States of America.

The shooter was described as a black male in his 20s, and is still on the run.

The five victims were shot when a gunman “fired his weapon numerous times into a crowd” in Crown Heights, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said.

A 25-year-old man later after being shot in the abdomen. Police sources said a 69-year-old woman was also shot in the back shoulder, a 64-year-old man was shot in the right arm, a 26-year-old man was shot in the head and a 16-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm.

All of the victims were transported to Kings County Hospital.

It is reported that among the five, one has died, one is in critical condition while  three are expected to survive.
