Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Freetwood Haiya has expressed shock over the death of former Captain of Silver Strikers FC, Mike Robert.
Robert died yesterday at Kamuzu Central Hospital after a long illness.
Writing on his official Facebook page Haiya said Robert contributed positively to Malawian football.
“I am profoundly grieved by the death of Mike Robert, former captain of the Silver Strikers FC.
“The contribution that Mike made to our football and the beautiful memories he left us are but immeasurable,” wrote Haiya.
He added: “Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the whole football community.
“His memory will forever be indelibly written on our hearts.”
