Local Contractors, over 50 in total, working under Roads Authority have today started holding vigils at Roads Funds Administration (RFA) offices in the capital Lilongwe.
The local contractors want RFA to pay them money amounting to MK45 billion in arrears dating back from January 2024.
The local contractors are accusing the RFA) of playing double standard on the matter as it only settled few payments earlier this year.
Earlier this morning, the Local Contractors were rocked up in a meeting with RFA Chief Executive Officer who was franked by Masauko Ngwaluko but the meeting failed to yield the intended results hence the vigil.
One of the local contractors Alex Chimwala has confirmed of the vigil in an interview with the press, saying the contractors will only call off the vigil once their concerns are resolved.
“I can confirm that the vigil is on and I call upon all the affected contractors to join us in this noble duty,” said Chimwala.
