Member of Parliament for Thyolo Thava, Mary Navicha, has been suspended for two days following a heated confrontation with Second Deputy Speaker Aisha Mambo Adams.
The incident occurred when Navicha sought to question Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale regarding the progress of food aid for hunger-affected communities.
Deputy Speaker Mambo had instructed Navicha to wait her turn, but the MP’s insistence on speaking led to a chaotic scene in the chamber.
Ignoring the Deputy Speaker’s directives, Navicha’s actions escalated tensions, prompting Mambo to invoke Standing Order 105 to restore order.
As a result of the disruption, Navicha has been ordered to return to Parliament on Monday, marking a temporary suspension from her duties.
