A national blackout has today hit the country, the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has confirmed.

In short notice  posted on The power utility body’s Facebook page, says most parts of the country experienced a system shutdown today at 11:42 AM.

“We have since stepped up our efforts to restore power supply in the shorted time possible”,reads the notice.

ESCOM has since assured the citizenry that efforts are being employed to normalise the situation and will keep on updating its valued customers.

It is reported that last time when Malawi had the same problem was on January 9 2024.
