Police in Chitipa have arrested 12 people on suspicion that they committed various crimes in the district.

This follows reports of Breaking and Theft offences that have been registered at the Station.

In response to this, Chitipa detectives conducted an intelligence driven operation that led to the arrest of the suspects aged between 12 and 35.

The current arrests has led to break through to series of criminal offences committed by these suspects and recovery of the stolen property.

Some of the recovered items are; five plasma screens, two sets of subwoofers, Kitchen utensils, beddings and 50 bags of Maize weighing 50 kilograms each.

All the suspects will appear before court soon to answer charges ranging from Breaking,Burglary,Theft and Receiving Stolen property among others.

The police in the district assures members of the community of their safety by among others continuation of arrests of suspected individuals in order to reduce the fear of crime in the district.
