Information reaching this publication indicates that the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has terminated contracts of some Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination markers for unknown reasons.
The development comes barely weeks after some examination markers residing at St Mary’s Girls Secondary School in Zomba staged a sit-in over poor living conditions.
MANEB spokesperson Angella Kachitigu has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
Kachitigu said MANEB is scaling down the work since marking of the MSCE exams is nearing its conclusion.
However, Kachitigu failed to provide more details on the number of markers whose contract have been terminated.
One of the markers found at Stella Maris, Ephraim Milanzi confirmed of the development.
“At Stella Maris, 7 of us our contract have been terminated,” said Milanzi.
MANEB is scheduled to release MSCE results anyday from next month.
