The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced that it will be receiving 1,500 generators from the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

According to MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa, this is in line with a cooperation agreement for the provision of various equipment between the two electoral commissions.

The generators are expected to support the voter registration process for next year’s elections.

The MEC statement indicates that the generators are anticipated to arrive in the country this coming Monday.

The MEC is expected to begin the voter registration process this month in preparation for next year’s elections.
