Police in Dowa have arrested three men following the death of another man, who was their relative, Howard Yolamu. The arrest was made in connection with a dispute over land.
According to a police spokesperson from Dowa, Sergeant Alice Sitima, the three arrested are Joseph Yolamu, Melike Dick Nguluwe, and Peter Phesele.
They are accused of committing the crime on September 3rd of this year in Mphindu village.
The three men are alleged to have attacked the victim, who was working on the land at the time, using some kind of tools, leading to severe injuries.
The victim was then taken to the hospital, where he died upon arrival. The dispute over land had been ongoing for a long time among these individuals.
Joseph Yolamu is from Mphindu village, Melike Dick Nguluwe is from Dick village, and Peter Phesele is from Ntchenenje village, all of which are under the jurisdiction of the traditional authority of Mkukula in the district.
