Sixty Catholics from Mzimba district on Sunday afternoon survived a road accident that occurred at Lwazi area in Nkhata-Bay on their way from church service at Chintheche in the district after a bus they were traveling in overturned.

Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson, Sergeant Kondwani James confirmed of the accident in an interview with the press.

According to James,the sixty Roman Catholic members belong to Mzambazi Parish in Euthini under the Mzuzu Diocese went for church service at St. Anthony Outstation at Chintheche in Nkhata-Bay.

James added that the bus failed to ascend Lwazi on the M5 road on its way to Mzimba from Nkhata-Bay and it eventually overturned.

The victims were treated as outpatients at Nkhata-Bay district hospital.
