Ministry of health has confirmed an outbreak of measles in some parts of Mangochi District.
In a statement signed by Secretary for Health Dr Samson Mndolo, three samples collected from Mkuchinga Jwambone Health Centre in the area of Traditional Authority Chowe have been confirmed positive for measles at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
Measles is highly infectious and characterised by generalised rash, fever, running nose and at least cough or red eye which spreads through direct contact with a mouth or nasal droplets when an infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes.
