The Ministry of Health has announced that Mangochi district has registered three cases of measles (chikuku).
This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary for Health, Dr. Samson Mndolo.
Dr. Mndolo said that the Mangochi District Health Office was alerted to suspected measles cases in a village under Mkuchinga Jwambone Health Center.
According to the authorities, the ages of the confirmed measles cases are seven months, five years, and seven years old.
Among other symptoms, measles, a highly infectious viral disease, is characterized by rashes, fever, runny nose, and at least one of the following: cough, Coryza, or red eyes.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mndolo has advised the citizenry not to panic and to take preventive measures against the disease.
