Police have arrested Vitumbiko Mhango, a 36-year-old primary school teacher, in connection with an Amazon online scam.
Deputy National Police Public Relations Officer Harry Namwaza has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.
According to Namwaza, the suspect allegedly defrauded customers by collecting K2.4 million for goods that were never delivered.
His arrest took place in Champhira, Mzimba District, just a day after another suspect was apprehended for similar offenses.
The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has intensified investigations following numerous complaints from victims. MPS is urging anyone who has transacted with Mhango and not received their goods to report to the nearest police station.
Authorities anticipate further arrests as they continue to uncover the extent of the scam and gather evidence against those involved.
Mhango hails from River Mtika Village, TA Chindi, in Mzimba District.
