A Pastor from Chikwawa district only identified as ‘Pastor Matchaya’ has sparked debate on social media after being captured asking for a modern house from President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera during a prayer.
This happened as Chakwera was scheduled to address people who gathered at Nkudzi primary School which is under construction.
As per tradition, the pastor was asked to open the function with a prayer and in the prayer the pastor said in part: “Ayi zikomo ambuye potisankhila msogoleli wabwino ndiposo ndi msogoleli yemwe anagwila ntchito yabwino ngati m’busa ndipo adakagwilabe. Inebe ngati m’busa pempho langa kwa apulesidenti kuti ine monga mtumiki wamulungu ndikusowa nyumba yogona yabwino komanso nyumba yabwino yoti ndizitumikila bwino anthu.
“Ine zopempha zambiri ndilibe ndipo ndikupempha anthu nonse kuti tizamuvotele msogoleli uyu kuti apitilize kulamulila zaka zasalazi.”
In response Deputy Minister of Local Government and Culture Oweni Chomanika said: “Pemphero sitiikila komenti iyayi.”
