Salima police spokesperson Rebecca Ndiwate stated that the suspect is Dayton Charles. Charles is accused of committing the act yesterday while the child’s mother, who is three years old, was away at a maize meal.

According to the child’s mother, the suspect had been mistreating her child. The child is currently receiving treatment at the district’s main hospital.

Dayton Charles is from Kambalame village in Salima District, and he will appear before court soon.
