Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Nsanje Lalanje Gladys Ganda has apologized to former President Peter Mutharika over her remarks made on Monday, September 9, 2024.

During a rally attended by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at Sorjin, Ganda praised Chakwera for developing her area and that he stands a chance in the forthcoming 2025 polls.

In reaction to the statement, the opposition DPP fired Ganda on the post of Director of Elections and appointed her as Presidential Advisor.

But in a statement released yesterday, Ganda apologized to to Mutharika and appealed for a second chance, saying her statement was influenced a timid environment.

“I regret to have spoken that way. It was not intentional but the environment forced me to speak carelessly as it was intimidating,” said Ganda.

The party is yet to comment on the matter.
