Mzuzu City Council (MCC) has today  demolished shops along the M1 during the wee hours,

The structures were being used by several business people in the city such as carpenters.

Benson Mthini, a carpenter whose shop has also been demolished says the council did not serve them a notice before the demolition.

MCC Spokesperson, MacDonald Gondwe says the council has demolished illegal wooden structures which is a normal activity as per law.

He has appealed to people including investors to engage the council whenever they want to erect structures in the city.
