The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has said it will not reinstate Nsanje Lalanje lawmaker on the post of Director of Elections despite her apologizing to the party.

Former President Peter Mutharika fired Ganda and deployed her to the post of Presidential Advisor following her remarks in Chakwawa where she praised President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for developing her constituency.

Ganda later apologized to the party, saying she made the remarks because of the environment she was in.

She went further to ask the party for the second chance.

The party accepted the apology but refused to reinstate Ganda.

“We would like to reiterate that the decision to assign Hon. Ganda, MP as Presidential Advisor was made after careful consideration and in the best interest of the party and its members. The party’s decision stands, and we reaffirm that she will continue to serve as Presidential Advisor,” reads part of the statement signed by DPP spokesperson Shadric Namalomba.

Ganda was elected as DPP Director of Elections last month and she served on the post for 23 days.
