Body cam footage has emerged from the arrest of Ryan Wesley Routh, who is accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
The video, released by Martin County Sheriff’s deputies, captures the moments immediately after Routh was pulled over on a Florida highway.
Deputies can be seen instructing Routh to walk backward with his shirt lifted, showing he had no hidden weapons.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Routh complied calmly and was handcuffed by several deputies armed with rifles.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder previously described Routh’s behavior as “perplexing,” noting his flat facial affect and relaxed demeanor.
The arrest followed an incident where Secret Service agents discovered an AK-style rifle near Trump’s golf course, prompting Routh to flee.
Routh abandoned the rifle and left behind two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera before being tracked down.
He now faces charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and with an obliterated serial number, among other potential charges.
