Police in Ntcheu have confirmed the death of Innocent Konyani, who was allegedly shot by officers in the village of Nenani, in the iNkosi Mpando area.
The family has requested an explanation regarding the circumstances of his death, believing he was killed by police.

Konyani’s uncle, Petro James, stated that the incident occurred earlier this week when police came to the village to arrest him.

According to Ntcheu police spokesperson Jacob Khembo, Konyani was shot during a confrontation when he attempted to take a firearm from one of the officers involved in the arrest, which was related to charges of burglary and theft from homes and shops.
