A 32-year-old man Samu Dombo has been arrested by Police in Makokola, Mangochi, on allegations of breaking into the house of a businesswoman at Makawa area, and fleeing with assorted items worth K2.5 million which have been recovered by police.

Public Relations Officer for Mangochi Police Station Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi said the suspect hails from Ndoya village, Traditional Authority Ng’abu in Chikwawa.

Daudi revealed that reports indicate that on September 21, the homeowner went to bed after securing the house but while asleep, she heard a strange noise outside, prompting her to check only to discover that unknown criminals had broken into the house through the front door.

“Upon further inspection, she realized that the criminals had made off with two desktop computers, one Lenovo laptop, two Acer laptops, and several chargers,” she said.

The incident was reported to Makokola Police Unit leading to the arrest of the suspect who according to police records, he was also arrested in October, 2023 for a similar offence and had been released on court bail last week.

He will appear in court to face charges of burglary and theft after the completion of paperwork.
