The Roads Fund Administration (RFA) has obtained an injunction restraining Local Contractors from taking over the management of two road tolling facilities at Chingeni in Ntcheu and Kalinyeke in Dedza districts.

The RFA owes the local Contractors over K15billion hence the threat of the takeover which was scheduled for tomorrow, September 24, 2024.

High Court Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda has issued the injunction against 34 defendants who include the Malawi Building and Civil Allied Traders Association (MABCATA).

Justice Nyirenda says disobeying the order shall amount to contempt of court which is punishable by law.

The court has since ordered an inter-parties’ hearing on the matter to be heard on October 1 next month.

Local Contractors are yet to comment on the matter.
