A collision occurred this morning at the infamous intersection in Namiwawa, Blantyre, involving two motorists traveling from Henderson Street and Sharpe Road.
The impact also caused a third vehicle, coming from the National Registration Bureau, to be hit.
Eyewitnesses reported that accidents occur at this location almost every week. “Many cars have been damaged here,” said one witness.
The Regional Road Traffic Officer for the Southern Region, Madalitso Gunsaru, emphasized the need for education and awareness to ensure compliance with road rules as a key measure to prevent such accidents.
“There is also a need for infrastructure improvements, such as the installation of traffic signals, clearer road markings, and the introduction of speed calming measures like speed humps to reduce the severity of crashes,” Gunsaru added.
