Almost 18 students have been injured today at Balaka Secondary School following a fight between Form 3 and Form 4 students over food distribution.

The argument erupted as students struggled for their meals.

Balaka Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha has confirmed the incident, noting that the injuries resulted from a clash among the students.

Additionally, hostel glasses were broken, and some mattresses were damaged during the commotion.

According to M’bumpha, the conflict arose from confusion regarding the food distribution procedure, as students were unclear about which group was to receive their meals first.
