Police in Chikwawa are keeping in custody two men, Nelson Mwalala 35 and McDonald Kachingwe 24, after they were found with 10 rolls of horse pipes suspected to have been stolen from Nchalo Illovo sugar Estate.

Mfune added that the two hid the pipes in bamboo baskets and lied that they were carrying fish to Blantyre but a thorough search, officers discovered 10 rolls of horse pipes bearing Illovo brand name and the suspects were immediately arrested whilst the horse pipes were confiscated and the motor vehicle impounded.
“officials from Illovo have been invited for identification of the pipes and investigations are in progress”, she added.
According to Mfune, the suspects will appear before court soon after investigations are finalised to answer charges of being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen.
