Unconfirmed reports reaching this publication indicates that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for eastern region Daud Chikwanje has been arrested.
According to information at hand, Chikwanje is suspected to have incited violence through a video shared on his official facebook page.
In the video, Chikwanje is quoted urged DPP supporters to be attacking anyone putting on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) regalia around Machinga and other areas.
MCP Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda has since organized a media briefing to condemn such acts of violence.
The Malawi Police Service (MPS) is yet to comment on the matter.
