Two suspected thieves who were rescued by police from a mob attempting to kill them in Nsanje and were receiving treatment at a government hospital have died.

This brings the death toll to four, the deceased were suspected of attempting to rob a local trader in Sorgin, Nsanje District.

Spokesperson for Nsanje Agnes Zalakoma, has confirmed the development today sating the rescued mob attack victims has died this morning.

According to Zalakoma, Harold Mwaiwao, aged 27, from Mtika village under Chief Njema in Mulanje, and Zigy Nasangwe from Likangala village under Chief Nkhulambe in Phalombe, died while receiving treatment at Nsanje hospital.

Currently, police are searching for others who reportedly fled the scene with dangerous weapons and were using a Land Cruiser vehicle.

Early on Monday, a mob set two people on fire and seriously injured two others whom they suspected to be dangerous criminals attempting to rob a local trader in the area.
