Information reaching this publication indicates that support staff at Zomba Central Hospital are staging a sit-in over risk allowances.
Spokesman for the hospital Fredson Kambeni said this has crippled some essential duties.
“Nurses and clinicians are not operating on normal basis due to this industrial action.” he said.
Officials from the ministry of health are yet to comment as Principal Secretary Dr.Sam Mndoli is currently locked in a meeting.
In a related development, auxiliary health workers at Nsanje District Hospital are also reportedly on strike.
The workers are demanding for 52 percent salary increment and a K50,000 top up.
