Police in Nkhata-Bay have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in the brutal killing of a 31-year-old at Chitheka Market in the district.
Spokesperson for Nkhata-Bay Police station Sergeant Kondwani James, has confirmed the arrest and he had identified the suspect, as Buma Manda.
According to James, Buma is accused of playing a role in the murder of Chikhulupiliro Chilora.
The late Chilora’s wife reported that on August 15 this year, her husband left home on his motorcycle heading to the market to collect money.
Upon arrival, he was attacked by a group of people wielding dangerous weapons. The assailants assaulted him until he lost consciousness. well wishers then rushed him to the hospital, where he unfortunately passed away while receiving medical treatment.
Following an investigation, police arrested Buma Manda yesterday, and he now faces charges of murder. The authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the other individuals involved in the crime.
